Everyone has a part in being prepared for a disaster or emergency! Disaster preparedness involves the whole community, and there is no better time than now to learn how to prepare for the unexpected. Join the Kern County Office of Emergency Services and California State University Bakersfield Geology Department for The Community Disaster Preparedness Event!
Enjoy the day engaging with local first responders and their equipment, learn about how they respond to emergencies, and hear from community organizations on how to best prepare your home, family, and pets for an emergency. Take a ride in the Earthquake Simulator where you can experience the intensity of large earthquakes! Learn what items you should pack in your home’s go-bag! Be a part of Cal State Bakersfield’s interactive demonstrations that will teach hands-only CPR, fire extinguisher use
Experience CSUB Geology’s Augmented Reality Sandbox!
Admission and parking is free!! KUZZ will provide entertainment with music and their money machine, and local food truck vendors will be there for you to purchase lunch and snacks!
