Overview
The Spotlight Theatre is Bakersfield's home for bold and innovative new works by contemporary playwrights and composers. We are in our 11th season of progressive theatrical productions showcasing the best and brightest from Broadway, off-Broadway, and beyond. Our 11th season promises to be another banner year, filled with quality productions featuring local artist, all at budget-friendly prices. The Spotlight Theatre was founded in 1999 by Emily and Jaque Thiroux, as well as John Swanson to fill a growing need in the community for a theatre that did shows for the changing landscape of Bakersfield. The Spotlight has provided audiences with an exciting array of theatre productions ranging from contemporary classics to groundbreaking dramas, hilarious comedies, and unique visions of the great American Musical.
