Bakersfield Banners Greet Amtrak Passengers
New mini-billboards promote the best of Bakersfield to visitors.
August 7, 2020 -- Travelers passing through Bakersfield’s Amtrak station will now be greeted by colorful and exciting images of things to do in California's ninth largest city . Those vibrant images are in the form of large banners hanging from the ceiling of the local passenger train station, courtesy of Visit Bakersfield.
Many Amtrak passengers pass through Bakersfield, but they may not know what our city offers, according to Visit Bakersfield Manager David Lyman. “We want travelers to consider Bakersfield as a place to stay longer and spend their money,” said Lyman. “We are always looking for ways to showcase the best of Bakersfield to visitors and these banners are our latest way to do that.”
Six different images greet passengers as they pass through Bakersfield’s Amtrak station. Each image plays on the city’s new tag line, “The Sound of Something Better.” For example, a photo of river rafting is “The Sound of Thrills” and an image of Dwight Yoakam at Buck Owens’ Crystal Place is “The Sound of Entertainment.” Each banner includes Visit Bakersfield’s new branding logo and website. Other images show indoor go-karting, hiking along the Kern River, and a local festival.
