Travelers will soon find it easier to fly into California’s ninth-largest city when American Airlines begins daily flights between Bakersfield and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
These new flights are part of American’s strategy to expand its largest and fastest-growing hub by increasing its offerings to almost 900 daily departures out of DFW. Currently, American operates about 800.
Those new destinations are both international and domestic. New international service from DFW includes Durango, Mexico; Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, Honduras; and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. American also will serve seven new domestic destinations in addition to Bakersfield, including Harlingen, Texas; Augusta, Georgia; Gainesville, Florida; Yuma and Flagstaff, Arizona; and Monterey and Burbank, California.
In addition to these new destinations, American will offer more flights to Mexico with additional service to six cities including Guadalajara, Leon, Querétaro (one of Bakersfield’s sister cities), Chihuahua, San Luis Potosí, and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico.
These new flights between Bakersfield and DFW increase American’s presence at Meadows Field where it currently offers flights to Phoenix. The other flights from Bakersfield, to San Francisco and Denver, are provided by United.
Tickets for the new American flights from Bakersfield to DFW go on sale October 8.
