Mission
Let us welcome you to Col. Baker’s Field. Because our city was founded on hospitality, the friendly and knowledgeable staff at Visit Bakersfield look forward to answering your questions. Find us in downtown Bakersfield at 515 Truxtun Avenue (at "S" Street). We are in front of the Amtrak station, next to the Kern Veterans Memorial, and just a few blocks east of the Convention Center. We are open to welcome you weekdays from 8AM until 5PM (closed for lunch), excluding city holidays.
Funding
Visit Bakersfield is funded annually by a small percentage of the city's transient occupancy tax. Through Visit Bakersfield's marketing and sales, it is able to attract groups and leisure travelers to Bakersfield. The increased travel and tourism to Bakersfield results in an increase in transient occupancy tax and sales tax revenue.
Structure
Established in 1967, the Greater Bakersfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, a 501(C)(6) corporation, is managed by a division of the City Manger's Office and is overseen by a 13-member Board of Directors.
