
Event Schedule Announced for Stage 5 Individual Time Trial of 2012 Amgen Tour of California BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- A day's worth of events are scheduled for May 17 as the 2012 Amgen Tour of California comes to Bakersfield, the Bakersfield Sports Foundation Announced today. All times are subject to change. 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (approx) - LifeStyle Festival - Northeast parking lot, Bakersfield College - featuring over 80 national and local vendors in an expo style setting along with food vendors and a beer garden. 10:45 a.m. - The Amgen Tour of California Amateur Time Trial Race will begin. 11:10 a.m. - The Amgen Tour of California Women's Time Trial Race will begin. 12:40 p.m. - Welcome ceremonies begin, National Anthem will be performed by former American Idol contestant Amy Adams. 1:00 p.m. - The Amgen Tour of California Pro Rider Time Trial Race will begin. The start ramp will be located at Mt. Vernon and Panorama. 3:45p.m. (approx) - Pro race concluded and awards ceremony conducted. Finish Line will be located on Panorama Drive just west of Mount Vernon Avenue. Bakersfield is the only city to host the coveted Individual Time Trial for the 2012 Amgen Tour of California and the event will be covered by NBC Sports Network. Free public parking will be available in the southwest student parking lot located on the corner of University Avenue and Haley Street on a first come, first serve basis. Spectators are asked to carpool, take the GET bus, or ride their bike. Arrive early to avoid traffic delays or parking issues. Bike Bakersfield will host a free bike valet on-site for spectators who wish to ride their bike to the event and secure it for the day. Spectators who plan to drive and park should note all applicable city and county parking codes will be enforced on streets adjacent to the event. Spectators can watch from Bakersfield College and the entire route will be open to the public, but the route itself will be closed to traffic beginning at 10:30 a.m. and will not be reopened until 4 p.m. Spectators who watch the race along the route instead of at BC should plan to be there for the duration of the race. They should have plenty of water, food, a hat, sunscreen, good shoes and a chair. Water stations will be set up at multiple locations along the course with water available for purchase: Northwest corner of Mt. Vernon and Panorama Northwest corner of Haley and Panorama Fire Station No.10 at Lake Ming Rd.
